Why the Orks?
I love Orks and I need to increase my WAAAAGH numbers. So I worked through the Beast Snagga Combat Patrol

My Goals
I already had a decent collection of Orks but so far I fully leaned into the scrapyard Aesthetic but since I assume the 11 Edition will also bring a new Combat Patrol I figured this is the best time to grab the current combat patrol.
With the Beast Snagga look being quite different I was worried how well they would fit into my memey purple scheme but I am quite happy with the end result.

The Painting Journey
Orks in general are a lot of fun to paint, especially the green skin and the purple Armor are among my favorites. The Beast Snaggas did bring some issue for me to match the color scheme with my main Army. They have a lot more Bones and Leathery bits but I think the metal parts and the few occasional purple plating works well in tying them to the rest of the army.

My favorite details
Grots. Nuff said. I just really love these little crazy guys.

Challenges & lessons
It was a bit tiresome to finish the 20 Beast Snagga Boyz but that is expected. I did spread them around. I started with 10 boyz, then finished the squighog Boyz and in my latch batch I finished the next 10 boyz and the beastboss. The Squigs were a nice little distraction even though the riders themself paint exactly like the boyz and the grots kept me excited anyway.
Paint recipies
- All Miniatures were base coated with white scar Spray
Dire Avengers

- For the Skin I used Gutrippa Flesh
- The Pants and Shoulder Plates were done with luxion purple
- The Coat was painted with basilicanum grey
- Any leathery bits were done with Gore Grunta Fur, except the boots which were done with Wyldwood
- On any bones I used Agrax Earthshade
- For the Squigs Skin I used Flesh Tearer Red and for their mouth/tongue I used Volopus Pink
- Weapons were done with Black Templaer, Flesh Tearer Red (for the handels) and Vallejo Mecha Color Steel for blades and guns. With some Runelord Brass decorations
- The entire miniature was then covered with Nuln oil
- A generous Dry Brush with Corax White followed after the Nuln oil dried
- I highlighted the Skin with Krieg Khaki
- If I feld like the Armor Plates got to dark, I repainted them with Phoenician Purple
- They Teeth (of Orks and Squigs alike) were then done with Screaming Skull
- Ork Eyes were done with Mephiston Red
- Squig Eyes were done with Yriel Yellow
Next Steps
So currently my Orks are sitting at around 1.600 points. I did already have a casual game with them, using some AoS Proxies but my goal is to get them up to 2.000 points. Which should be easy with the Launch Box of 11 Edition coming soon. Ill probably get a couple smaller boxes for the orks until then but no bigger purchases as I also expect a Christmas Battleforce for them this year. But the Launch Box alone should easily bring me above 2.000 Points. Also at some point in the future the old Combat Patrol will show up through the Combat Patrol Magazine and they did announce a Fomo Box for the Armageddon Release wave. Ill probably grab that one too.
